Confession

The boys did the first reconciliation.

Outside the church after.

At an information evening with Dr Ray Nassar, Noel Child and Chris Curtis spoke about air pollution effects on the body, and ventilation techniques. Not good news. The tunnel will be vented at the beginning and end of the tunnel, not the best in the world.

One of the school evenings Harmony Fair, lots of colour, different food.

Ollie got the award for the best fielder at the end of cricket season awards. Nice work Ollie! He is doing really fantastic.

Harrison and Ollie on a play date.

The usual rounds of protests. This time for helmet laws. We went for a little ride, and got the full cop treatment, 6 patrol cars for a few people doing a lap of the park without a helmet. Not sure why the NSW police have it in for bike riders.

At these protests, I'm starting to recognise several people. It's getting weird. The lady in the hat is Pip from the cyclists party. Mike Rubbo is on the right. Rudy organised.

Sue Abbott took the fine on behalf of everyone. She's a helmet free champion. Turns out if you keep riding after getting the first fine, it goes up to the next level of offence. We elected to complete it off road, where allowed to freely, and everyone then got their helmet off.

Jason and Vince were looking at a vineyard. Neither of them particularly drink, so it's probably good that in the end, the deal fell through. These days wine production is going downhill with all the weird weather and the heat.

The reason for the heat is the profligate burning of fossil fuels. We should definitely exit this immediately.

Festival of divali

I think it's Divali, where they throw the food colours everywhere? Lucky we wore some old rubbishy clothes as this stuff never gets out.

The local homies.

The end result for me.

Feb 2018

Well this is a wrap for Feb.

We went off to Hunter Valley for the weekend. Thanks Vonne and Tony for looking after the kids for a couple of days.

Between protests, and daily lecture events, I got to cycle a bit in town. I think you'll agree it's a disaster zone of car traffic. Get out of the city guys, and take a train like normal people.

We also went for a ride along Cooks River bike path. That was a very nice Sunday with the kids, and the cousins.

The second last game of the season for cricket - they did well, and recorded their first win! We had a couple of substitute players who were very solid, and that's all they needed to get them going positive. Ollie smashed a few fours, and got 30 not out. Super awesome work Ollie!

Also, me and da boys went to the tram museum. It's just fantastic that you can still go for a ride on a Sydney tram in Sydney.

They even have a few from other countries.

The boys had a great time, and we went for a few rides. Very interesting to see all the places the tram used to go. My great aunt always said there was a tram up at Lane Cove. Now we can see actual pictures of it.

So Frenchy, so chic - 20th Jan

Vonnie got us all tickets for the Very French day. Turns out they had a lot of bands. We say and chat for most of it, then finally watched some different bands after the sun went down. Ate some baguettes, avoided the raclette, danced around a bit.

Prices for one beer was about the price for 6 of them in France at the supermarché.

The kids liked it liked it too. We let them wander around as they pleased.

The big stage had a nice view of the city.

Marie, Sara and Vonnie had a nice old catch up.

The last act was some collection of guys all dressed in white, wearing ties. About as weird French as it gets.

We popped down to visit Yves, Meri and Stephane in Kiama, and check out the Kiama show. Bonsai plants, cake cooking, rides, man it has it all.

Water fight!

We had Harry, Ray, Yohan, and the buddy who went to Bowral

Date night! On the odd night, the kids are off to Vonne's and we head out to explore some of the bars we keep hearing about. Always, there's something new. This one was near the Museum of Modern Art.

War on waste!

City of Sydney had an interesting show with recovered waste. There was just a small sample of things played with shortly, then thrown. The lot came from one fast food restaurant chain. Very irresponsible

Last days in Batlow trip

We went to a local forest to check out the cathedral of trees there. Played a bit of baseball. Ate some food, then rolled home via Canberra.

On the way, we dropped in on Questacon. The boys did have a very good time. Even before you walk in, there is a puzzle to escape a cable lock.

Fluorescent rocks make some crazy colours under lights.

And under normal lights again, same rocks.

At the sound show with Brodie the Roadie to learn about resonators and amplifiers. Lou got to wack him on the head with a placcy pole to make some music.

Not many people can find themselves at such a young age. Rhenium, symbol Re, is number 75 on the periodic table. A neat box had many of the elements on show.

A trip to the shop, we got a slinky, that's always good fun.
