New Castle, Delaware

<-- each place in town is this good looking

cobblestone street -->

New Castle is a small place with skinny streets lined by gorgeous historic buildings a metre from the curb. By some miracle, it hasn't been demolished, and is intact as it ever was.

Everyone thinks Delaware is dull because they sit on highway 95 and go straight through. But if you stop at New Castle, you'll discover a living town that got saved from the housing estate building, Hummer driving, neon sign blaring banality that is destroying the rest of the country like weeds. Hopefully the nearest Walmart and Starbucks are far far away.
