Arkaringa Station and the painted desert

Wednesday some school, pack up, try to see Peter the jeweller who's at the doctor's instead, end up chatting to a couple about their huge yellow Iveco 4wd truck with kitchen/bedroom built on the back. They've been out for months, work occasionally to top up their funds. They sold everything to put it into the truck. The boys race excitedly off for the roo feeding at midday. Peter is finally there. The ant is finished, and for the princely sum of $750 we have an ant that the kids and Marie love, so her 50th is finally done for a gift.

Wednesday saw the dingo fence on road out of Coober Pedy.

Stayed Arkaringa Station for two nights.
The two station house dogs Timmy and Chrissy entertain on the home's lawn. Wondering how people would handle child birth on a remote station? There is an air strip for the Royal Flying Doctor to do vaccinations and check ups. The station lady says she went to Alice for her 2nd child. Had to stay for a month just in case.
Arkaringa is 2745 square kms big, so hope the station owner never gets injured or lost.
The boys met Aaron, the family's 7 y.o. son. They had a good time, so we decided to stay 2 nights instead.
The back of the homestead - yet another diesel generator. It would make more sense in the land of endless sunshine to do panels and windmills no? Plus the hassle of trucking in the diesel. The generator cuts out around 11.30pm at night, and otherwise is droning away all the time.
Our patch of dirt - managed to find a well groomed soft area.
The sunsets are awesome.
Timmy and Chrissy - Timmy is the littler older one.
Thursday, long day of school work, get most stuff done much to everyone's relief. Aaron finally appears about 2pm after school, lunch and chores. Kids busy; we drive to the painted desert, which is just wonderful dreamy road runner country.
